Ormskirk Theatre Company Upstairs at Disraeli’s Cork Jackets and Drill NODA Murdernight

Sadly, the Ormskirk Theatre Company have had to cancel their forthcoming annual remembrance day concert, Remember and the murdernight Return to Talbot Manor.

We are simply unable to find a suitable venue.

As many of you will be aware, our theatre Upstairs at Disraeli’s, was forced to close.

The last performance, to a full house, was staged there on 9 May 2015.

Ironically, our little ‘gem of a theatre’ seemed to be going from strength to strength, and since it opened in July 2013 had staged 30 different productions, ranging from pantomime to rock and jazz, with a growing audience supporting us, the Derby Players and various guest artists.

But future events are now on hold. Disraeli’s has been refurbished, and rebranded The Market Cross. Sadly, although the upper floor remains idle, the continuation of our theatre is not part of the brewery’s plans. Consequently, we have closed our doors for the last time.

All this, of course, leaves the Ormskirk Theatre Company - and our friends, The Derby Players, without a home.

It seems a cruel twist of fate that we should find ourselves in this position, after what has - arguably - been the most successful two year period in the OTC’s history, with 25 nominations and 7 NODA awards.

In that time, we have shown that we have the ability to be a successful, small, financially viable repertory theatre.

Please support our ‘Save Ormskirk Theatre’ campaign. E-mail us; Share this announcement with friends and family, like our pages on Facebook; follow us on Twitter.

More importantly, if you know of any local business or pub which has any spare space we could use to stage future productions - or develop into a theatre space for the future - we’d love to hear from you. You can contact the Ormskirk Theatre Company by clicking HERE.
